I’m Happy

DJ’s and others in the music industry are starting to sound off about what is “the” song of the summer. To me it’s the song that started out as a real catchy tune and really made you smile. Now it’s the song that I don’t want to hear again. I am so happy that Pharrell has had mega success but enough already! However, when I was putting this table together I kept thinking I’m Happy with this table. Now that song is stuck in my head, again.

I was reluctant to go with the yellow/aqua color combo again but I wanted to use this yellow fabric that has been sitting around forever. Then there are these cute aqua and white sea motif salad plates. They’re melamine and were $1.48 each, thanks again Burlington. Melamine combines with dollar store white plates work well for me so why not. That was just the start of me dispensing with all formality for this table.

There was bit more mixing and matching going on here also. I do not have bright yellow or aqua napkins. How did that happen! And I will take care of that little situation. What I did have was four tea towels that had the colors I wanted to use. Once again I didn’t have four of the same but life goes on.

Let’s not stop there, because I’m Happy! There’s a mash up with the cutlery. Yellow from the thrift store and aqua, well it’s more teal, from the clearance section at Target. Rattan chargers add texture and meld with the feel of the table.

No fuss no muss glasses round out the setting. Keeping it simple I used three white vases with small bunches of blooms to line the center of the table. They are sitting on round teal candle holders. The frilly fabric stems are leftovers from a shower I helped Charisse with last month. In between each vase is a round votive holder perfect to add a little shimmer when the sun sets.

To finish it off, at each end of the table there are leaf shaped aqua dishes that hold extra flatware. Poke me with either a yellow or teal fork, I’m done!

I’m taking this tables to a couple of parties this week. You’re welcome to join in!

Why not go with what works? It still has its own personality, its own style, its own life. The color combo is pretty, so use it ’til it hurts!!!

I’ve still not had enough of “Happy” or “Blurred Lines”. (In fact, you’ll be seeing a post from me soon along those lines!) Every time I hear either of those songs, I still stop what I’m doing to dance! Heck…I still do that every time I hear “Sexy Back” from years ago!!!

I haven’t stepped foot inside a Burlington in awhile. Those salad plates are rockin’. It always amazes me what great stuff they have. And you know I love the tea towels as napkins. I am ALL about that!!! The fact that they come in varying but complementary designs makes it that much better!

I hope “Happy” gets out of your head soon. I know how annoying that can be, especially when you’re at church and trying to think pious thoughts….the rest of the congregants wonder why you’re bobbin’ your head to the Lord’s Prayer! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of Blurrred Lines, despite a former Disney star’s antics. You really should give Burlington’s a try I know you’ll find something you like. Thank you so much for being so encouraging.

I love this table! Your salad plates are really a find: I keep forgetting to go to Burlington to check out their stuff ( I feel a shopping trip coming on!). Your centerpiece is perfect, and forgive me, but the colors together do just make me feel “Happy!” Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

I like everything about this table, the bold yellow table cloth, the aqua sea plates with the mismatched tea towels and flatware. The aerial view of table showcases the beautiful flowers, love it.

I complain about the song but it’s still one of my favorites. Love the spread you had laid out on your blog also and thanks for the kind words.

I wouldn’t have come up with aqua and yellow together, but you totally surprised me with this combo! SOOOO pretty, and I love it very much. Such a pleasant color combination that makes me happy and cheerful and at the same time it’s gorgeous and elegant!
