Memorial Day Inspiration

Every spring and summer I vow to savor the season. Relax, kick back and smell the roses if you will. Inevitably it seems to go by in a blur. It’s almost Memorial Day people! July 4th is right around the corner. Soon it will be Halloween and before you know it we’ll be singing Jingle Bells!!

OK, I’m getting way ahead of myself. Maybe that’s why I seem to be moving at wharp speed. In anticipation of all I want to do, and the time I have to do it, kick back and relax gets lost in too much looking ahead.

Planning is one way to stay ahead of the game and be prepared. Planning to far ahead can sometimes leave your head spinning. This week I intend to s-l-o-w down and smell the flowers, the grill and whatever I have baking in my oven. I’m not going to worry about tomorrow, because it never gets here. Here are a few table and dessert ideas in case you’re feeling a tad bit rushed and haven’t had a chance to plan decorations or your menu. Pick a few and then sit back and chillax!

It’s sometimes hard to savor the season when it’s searing hot and you’re just seeking relief from the heat & humidity! But I agree, we at least need to try.

I’ve got my menu planned for Memorial Day, and I plan to cook up enough so that I don’t have to cook again until Wednesday or Thursday!!! My 5-flavor pound cake will top off all the savories, served with ice cream and strawberries. Mmmmmm!!!

Enjoy your weekend, Sandra! I know there will be food galore at your house!!!

I can’t wait to see that poundcake! I put away leftovers in the freezer today. No cooking for me for awhile. I hope you had the chance to put your feet up and chill!

Love your table and I am heading over for that cheesecake recipe. I am a huge sucker for any form of cheesecake!

I know what you mean about going warp speed, I am doing the same thing in my yard trying to get everything planted, and things relocated before the summer gets here and it gets too hot to really enjoy it unless we’re on the water.
    XO,
    Christine

Being on the water on a hot day like today sounds awesome Christine! Since I’m the only cheesecake lover in the house I don’t make them often. Way too much temptation!!
