bluesy table 16

Is it spring yet? No? Oh well.

The temptation to put together a spring like table is strong but I’ll do my best to keep it seasonal for a little while longer. Since blue is a cooler hue it’s very fitting for the weather we’re experiencing right now. These plates caught my eye in the thrift store but I had some reservations about them. At .49 each I don’t know why. When I found out that everything in the store was half off I grabbed four of them. There were at least six in the pile, why oh why oh why didn’t I get all of them! That was three weeks ago. I went back a few days ago and lo and behold they were still there. Now I have six, yay me!!

This is one of those tables where luckily there were other items in my stash that I could use with them. My first instinct was to use a stark white tablecloth, but I wasn’t completely sold on that idea or the baby blue one that was my second choice. The tablescape angels must have had me in their radar when I went into Joann’s last week looking for fabric. The piece I’m using for my tablecloth is perfect. Two yards for $9.00 and it’s silk no less!!!

Remember for my last table I was looking for black chargers and couldn’t find them anywhere? Found tons of them at Hobby Lobby a couple of days ago but not the white ones I wanted for this table. Those tablescape angles must be playing tricks on me. No white ones in sight, so I used silver. I placed a plain white bowl on the plates so that most of the pattern could be seen. Faux mother of pearl flatware, blue napkins and silver beaded napkin rings round out the stack.

Most of the time I only use the blue stemware during the summer. Don’t ask me why. The cut of the glass in the water glass and goblet tied in perfectly with the cloth and add a bit of sparkle.

A couple of my friends gifted me with the white triple bowl server and the lions head dipping cups.

The small bowl of flowers is sitting on a pillar holder that was tucked away on the back of the clearance shelf at TJ Maxx. I do believe someone placed it there so no one would find it while they thought about buying it. Who among us has not done that? More shimmer and shine comes from the pillar and votive holders.

Even though blue is a cool color I think the shades I’ve used are seasonless and looking at this table gives me the warm fuzzies. Our expected high today is a whopping 13°, hurray for the warm fuzzies!!

These are the linky parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!

So elegant!!! I love it! And no, it is NOT spring yet. Goodness it’s cold here. I can’t even imagine what it’s like in MI!!! Speaking of MI… UM and MSU play tonight. I think you guys are gonna smack us down, but hey, a girl can dream, right? HUGS!!!!!!!

First, hallelujah those other 2 plates were still there! You never know when a dinner will call for 6 instead of just 4! And at that price and that neat design, you can’t go wrong with having all 6! Second, this is one of the prettiest tablescapes you have ever done. I really, really, really, really, really, really like it. It’s the perfect wintertime pick-me-up!

White chargers would have been nice, but the silver breaks up the blue & white a bit. I like them here. (White chargers are a BEAR to find around here!) I REALLY like the placemats!!! The laciness of them allows that white silk to peek through, and it’s a great look. I also think it was a great choice to mix up your stemware. It gives the table a beautifully pulled-together look. Kind of like with furniture: Anybody can just go out and buy a bedroom or dining room SET. It takes skill and savvy to pull together a room (and in this case, stemware) that works well together and lends character. Great job!

Try to stay warm. It’s a little warmer here today with highs in the 40s…although the howling winds are making it feel much cooler. High in the 50s tomorrow before plunging back into the teens and 20s next week. Why, oh why??!?!??!! 🙂

Thanks Alycia! Not only do I drool over all of your beautiful tables, I’m gleaning some tips also. Yet another fresh blanket of snow today, about 4 inches. Don’t know where we’re going to put any more of it!

Stay warm my friend, though this beautiful blue is reminiscent of summer flowers so hopefully your decorations are bringing warmth into your home! Lovely decor 🙂

You find the best find at the thrift store. It’s a wonderful light and happy table… even with the cold winds of winter blowing. I am praying for the groundhog to do his thing and bring spring early!

Fingers crossed and throwing salt over my shoulder that Mr. Groundhog brings good news. If not, we can bake cupcakes until spring 🙂

I really wanted to make this table an Asian theme but didn’t want to just throw it together. You don’t know how many times I almost emailed you for advice. When I get a few more pieces I will do it but probably using a black/red color combo.
