The sun is shining, the weather is reasonable, my family and I are safe and well and I’m counting my blessings. Isn’t it amazing how the weather can affect our mood and energy levels? I was determined to get out of my lazy blogger slump, get with the program, and change my table.

For this one I tried several color combinations with the dishes, napkins and flatware and finally settled on this one. The swirls make me smile and I hope you like them also.

The tablecloth is from Martha’s collection that I found at the thrift store. Originally I wanted black chargers and I couldn’t find them anywhere here in town. Had I ordered them online they wouldn’t have made it to me when I needed them. Also, by the time I paid S&H the cost would have been more than I was willing to pay. Who knew black chargers were in short supply. So I resorted to my DIY ones that I posted about here.

These plates from the Tempo Collection by Noritake will grace my table many times. The color combos here are awesome! I pulled the red salad plates and the black cup and saucer from my everyday dinnerware. The red in the salad plate is almost a perfect match to the shade of red in the dinner plate.

White swirly napkins and gold toned flatware give the setting some shine. The dessert forks came from the thrift store and they may as well have been free the price was so low. I included black dessert plates that also have a swirly type design.

Black stemmed flutes and the goblets were the mix of kind of fancy and plain that I was after. I bought the brass candlesticks over 15 years ago and don‘t remember where. Originally I used them to decorate the tables for my wedding cakes. Definitely money well spent.

I am seriously looking for a floral arranging class so I can up my centerpiece skills. In the meantime this black cake plate that I scored from Hobby Lobby after Halloween a couple of years ago supported my cake beautifully. Hobby Lobby is a goldmine of bargains!

Uh oh! First a chicken wing shortage, then a Velveeta shortage, and now a black charger shortage??!?!?! The world is surely coming to an end!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Come to think of it, though, I’ve not seen a single black charger out there lately. I wonder what’s up with that? No worries…the ones you created worked out perfectly! The shapes complement those in the dinner plate & the tablecloth, and they look fantastic!

Yes, I HAVE been to TJ Maxx lately! I went there for the after-Christmas sales a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like maybe I need to get my hips back over there yet again! Or not. We are working on a budget that is going to put SERIOUS cramp in my style. Looking to do some special projects around the house, so that will be worth it. (I say that now, but the minute I see something out there that catches my eye, I’m going to get all grumpy!)

    Beautiful table, Sandra! Just beautiful!

Oh my gosh you said the “B” word!! Everytime I say I’m not going to spend anything on tableware I think my nose grows. Still on the lookout for those black chargers. Thanks for checking out my swirly table!

I am one of those folks that want to just hibernate during winter. It’s good I have kids because my motherly instinct to feed them makes me go to the grocery store and cook. 🙂 I will be happy when spring is sprung.. but until them I can enjoy some wonderful tablescapes from you. Love this darker combination of colors. 🙂 Hope your black chargers get back into stock. 🙂

It doesn’t feel like it will ever be warm again does it? I’m so happy you like my table and I will do my best to give you lots more to see.

Thank you so much Nami. I think if I had unlimited income I’d still hang out at the thrift stores and try to get multiple uses out of what I have. Have to tell you again how awesome those Green Tea Truffles look!

Sandra, I am with you on the weather. It can be cold, but give me the sun to make me smile. This table really makes me smile with your fabulous chargers and all of the swirls. There is just something about swirls that speaks to me and I agree, they make me happy too. I need to always count my blessings when the weather is ugly – it is giving us water right! Have a wonderful day!

I love those dinner plates! So pretty! And this has got to be the LONGEST winter ever…and I bet it’s even colder up your way! Ugh…but I need to remember to count my blessings 🙂

This is the coldest winter that I remember and I am still counting my blessings. Right at the top of my list is that it is warm inside. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit Liz!
