Well the aubergine and mixed metals table won’t be happening for Thanksgiving, but there’s always Christmas. I probably spend way too much time on the internet looking at pictures of home decor. Especially tablescapes, but I get tons of inspiration when I do. This is the picture that was the inspiration for my table. I love it because it incorporates the colors and the feel of fall but isn’t traditional.
I make lots of references to the “feel” of a table. Inanimate objects just like people create a mood or feeling. Have you ever been feeling really good and then a negative person comes around? The feeling or mood changes. Have you ever said or heard someone say, “I’m not feeling that or I am feeling it”, in reference to an outfit, furniture or even paint? Same goes for me when I look at different decor items. Isn’t that how we decide how we decorate our homes. If it doesn’t feel good or make us feel good it just won’t work. The picture above made me feel good and I wasn’t going to stop until I came up with the best re-creation that I could.
Let’s start with this runner. I think I bought it from tablecloth.com via Amazon. It was a steal at under $5.00. It would have been so much easier to buy fabric flowers. But noooo, I decided to cut petals from silk flowers and then add a little bling before gluing them to the runner. Thankfully it didn’t take as long as a I had anticipated. In addition to the flowers, I added a few faux crystal flowers. I love the contrast against the silver tablecloth.
The chargers are from Michaels and at .66 cents I wasn’t about to leave without them. The other great bargains are the napkins and napkin rings from Pier 1. .98 cents each, booyah!!!
Square dinner plates and rounded square appetizer plates complete the stack. The amber colored goblets are just the right shade. I was on the fence about whether to use silver or gold flatware. Either would have worked but with the silver cloth I thought the silver was best.
A while back we went to Indiana to visit our son and his wife and of course I had to check out a few stores. Gordman’s is where I found this gorgeous silver vase. Gordman’s is very similar in price and merchandise to Ross. It’s probably a good thing that we don’t have one in town.
Flanking the vase are the hurricane pillar holders that I used in the Fall Colors table. A few scattered babubles and I was done!! A more restrained table was the goal and I think I met it.
I’m feeling this one!
